Wrote about this on my blog, but I thought I'd share here too! I check out freezer-section battered fish periodically (much to my disappointment). A few weeks back I spotted Gorton's Beer Battered fish at Target. The packaging looked new, so I picked up the bag and checked out the ingredients. It's got the phrase "natural flavor" but other than that, it looks to be fructose free. I ate more than my fair share (seriously have not had beer battered fish in over a year) and did not have even the slightest reaction. gortons.com/product/beer-batter-fish-filletsAlso have been making stomboli (which is exactly like the pizza I make, but so much better!) by following this recipe: www.focuseat.com/2013/12/stromboli.html?m=1I use the pepe's bakery frozen pizza dough (http://www.pepesbakery.com) but you could make your own dough if you can't find a safe frozen pizza dough in your neighborhood. I add basil, garlic salt, and Parmesan to the top to make it extra yummy.

Quick note: I would not recommend putting fresh mushrooms in the stromboli--as they tend to make the stromboli super-soggy.

I"m so glad I saw this! I spent quite a bit of time reading the fish labels at the supermarket this weekend. Fish is my son's favorite meal and I couldn't find anything. I will keep my eye out for these!

Hey colormist,
I picked up a bag of the Gordons beer battered fish for my son. I was looking at the ingredients and when they mention the beer they show it broken down in to malt. Is malt safe? I thought someone recently posted about malt being made up of fructose.
I thought I would get your take on it before i have him some to try.

I have never noted a reaction from malt and the sugar breakdown (as described on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malt ) lists no unsafe sugars. I would not be surprised, however, if malt in other countries contains different sugars than malt in the United States.

ok this is good to know. Thank You! I was starting to question the food that i have that contains maltodextrin. I was really hopeful it would still be safe since he has a good bit of food that has that in it.
