My daughter is 5 1/2. Is there a blood glucose level we should be shooting for before bed? I've read it should not be below 120mg/dL.
My daughter has been having nausea before bed (afternoons sometimes as well). She is currently going through a growth spurt. I've tried increasing frequency of meals and making sure she has a bed time snack. But often times even after eating her blood sugar is not as high as literature says it should be, only in the 80's and 90's. Literature says it should be at the higher end of the range after meals and before bed which for 5-11 year olds is 150, 5 and younger 200.
Blood sugar in the mornings seems to be okay though, in the 70's, low end of range for 5-11 year olds. Not sure what to make of this or if I can even assume the nausea is due to low blood sugar. And if it is, how to get it up? She's eating a lot. She's eating frequently.
Also, how long should I wait after eating for an after meal reading? We don't have any direction from doctors, so any information on how to take blood sugar readings in a meaningful way would be greatly appreciated.
