Hello to all
I need your advice.
Carlitos's appetite has decreased significantly and it worries me because he use to eat really well. His pediatriciansaid is normal for kids to loose appetite at some point and then they get it back. However, I believe he has parasites and the pediatrician said to give him Zentel in pills and crush them. However this med has saccharine and he indicated it for five days.
What should I do
He is in perfect health and everything else is going well , he is just not eating as much as he use to. And I want to rule out parasites
Thank you
Claudia

Any mom has given an anti parasite medication to their toddlers?

Megan had some medicine for helicobacter pylori around his age, but that caused very severe pains. If it was parasites I would have thought that would increase his appetite, not decrease.
I would wonder whether he is going through a stage where he is getting pickier with food, and maybe just doesn't need as much. As long as he is healthy, developing and drinking well you may find there is no problem.
How is your new baby doing, any sign of HFI there?

I agree with Charlie on this. Sometimes these kids are just kids. He's probably just going through a stage and will be back to normal in no time. BUT if you and your doctor think he should have those pills, then from an HFI standpoint, Sacchrine is fine. It is a tolerated sugar substitute. Regina has no reaction to it at all. If that is the only ingredient you are concerned about, then it should be fine.
