Did you ever get any info the corn starch from your dietician? Mine still says the same thing. That it is only the "bran" of the corn that is not allowed. Corn Starch, corn flour and corn oil are fine.
I was just wondering. This will make things much easier for you. Tammy

Tammy!!
We found out last week from our dietician that the information you gave me is 100% correct!!!
I've been meaning to update you and was so glad to see you post again.
You are so right that this will make life a lot easier. We've been planning errands on weekends around their feeding schedules, and now if we have to we can give her McNuggets!!!

I'm glad this worked out for you. My daughter says I 'm supposed to tell you that means they can now have cheese puffs. This is one of her favorite snacks. Tyson makes a frozen breaded chicken breast. Not all Tyson, but just check the label. This is a handy, quick thing, too. The filet-o-fish is also ok at McDonalds, but without the bun of course. I have a bread machine to make her bread, but our local supermarket also has a "ready to bake" french bread that all I have to do is throw in the oven. It's in the deli dept. Lipton Side Dishes, Stroganoff flavor is one of her favorites. This has a trace amount of onion powder in it. She can't have onions, but since onions are very low in fructose, and they put such a tiny amount of onion powder in it, she can tolerate it without a problem. Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee used to make a microwave bowl of chicken and dumplings. But it's been so long that I've checked it, I'll have to look again. (That's where I work) I kind of forgot about it. Same way with one type of Campbells chucky chicken soup. I usually keep ham, string beans and potatoes in the freezer in individual dishes. This is her "soup". If your interested, there is a (poor) picture of her with her dogs in the local pet parade last summer at dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=48680&j=tOne of these days I'll set up a web site and put a pic of her on it. Can not thank you enough for all the food ideas you have provided here.
You are truly a blessing to us!
Please thank your daughter for telling us about the cheese puffs! I'm sure our little ones will enjoy them when they get older.
Take care!

I checked out the Chicken and Dumplings at work. One thing I forgot about it is that it is a "Lucks" product. We make it at our Chef-Boy-Ar-dee plant, but it has a Lucks label. (you'll see it's made by ConAgra Foods - our parent company- if you look) It comes in both a 7.5 oz microwave bowl and also in a can. The label says "sweet dairy whey" I questioned the "sweet" part. According to our product development dept, it is "milk protein concentrate and lactose". So it is fine. It also says onion powder on the label. I - personally- make this. there is approimately a handful or less in 500 gals of product. Think small swimming pool, or a 4 person hot tub. We fill 7,862 microwave bowls out of it. So if you get a flake or two, that would be it. This is a really good item to keep in the cupboard when you just need a quick can of soup. It's just chicken, gravy, and little hunks of pasta.
I'm so glad I've been able to help. I remember what it was like when I was starting out. We've been doing it along time, so if you ever have any specific questions, maybe we'll have an idea.

Hello!!
Thanks again for the information. I'll check out the chicken and dumplings the next time I go to the store.
I did pick up a box on Tyson nuggets. All the ingredients checked out for us okay.
I did see a package of beef franks by Hebrew National. The only ingredient that was suspect was garlic seasoning. I'm going to call to see if it's the same deal with the chicken and dumplings that you were talking about.
I remember you writing that you keep ham, string beans and potato on hand for soup. How do you make that?
Thanks again for all of your help and ideas. I can't thank you enough!!

For the "soup", the hardest thing is to find ham that is cured without sugar (or honey). Smithfield is sometimes ok. Sam's Club usually carries one that is ok. Sometimes I get a thick slice and sometimes a chunk. Either way, cut it up into small cubes. Dice potatoes. Add lots of water. Cook slowly until the potatoes are partly cooked. Then add green string beans. Just add water if needed and cook it slowly. You can make it on the stove, or in a crock pot slow cooker. In the cooker you don't have to watch it as close and you can just let it cook all day. The flavor is usually better in a cooker. If the ham is salty, that is all you need. If the ham isn't salty you may need to add a little salt to taste. As far as how much of each, I pretty much use equal parts of ham and potatoes and a few more string beans. But if you like one thing better than the other, make it to suit you. I then freeze it in individual bowls so I can just take one at a time out . We just eat butter bread with it. Sometimes she puts saltines in hers, but I prefer it without them. Since you asked how to make it, I'm guessing this is a "pennsylvania dutch" thing again. Everyone here makes it all the time.
What is it about the garlic seasoning that you are questioning? They can have spices and herbs. The only one they can't have is Allspice. (Which makes it easy to remember - all spices except allspice) Garlic is fine. She eats a lot of garlic.
If I ever mention something that you can't find, let me know and maybe I can ship some out to you. You are only 4 - 5 hrs from me. Maybe we can take some Sat afternoon and meet you somewhere sometime.

Kelly, I just found out - "for sure" - that we will actually be in your area tomorrow, Sat. March 5. We are driving out to Akron to pick up some car parts that we purchased. We plan on leaving there around 2:00 or so. We are in no hurry to get home. We'll be heading back to PA on I- 76 to I-80. IF you read this in time, and IF you don't have plans, and IF you would be interested, we could meet you somewhere. (Olive Garden? McDonalds? Long John Silvers?) I'll have my cell phone with me. The number is 570-490-8161. If this works out, great, if not, maybe next time. Tammy

Hi Tammy!
Just read through all your posts.
Would have loved to have met you on Saturday but both babies have colds. Lily is just getting over hers, and Charlie's cold peaked yesterday. They have been keeping us on a dead run all weekend long.
I hope we can meet in the near future sometime.
Thanks for posting all those great recipes. I can't wait to try them out!
Thanks again!!
Kelly
