Hello Everyone,
We will be traveling to Walt Disney World in July and it's been a few years since our last trip. I'd like to hear about any recent experiences there. How did you manage your or your family member's HFI at WDW?
Let me say first that we are familiar with, and appreciate when the chefs come to the table to discuss what our daughter Lily can have. They have always gone the extra mile to prepare spectacular meals for her. In fact, the last time we were there, the head chef at the Polynesian made a special trip to the grocery store for a box of sugar free pudding in order to make a chocolate mousse so that Lily could have the special Kilauea Volcano Delight dessert during the Spirit of Aloha dinner show.
Most locations for lunch and dinner will provide some level of this type of service, so I'm looking for tips on any HFI treats, snacks, desserts, etc...? We do bring snacks into the parks anyway but if anyone knows of anything provided by Disney that is safe, I'd like to know.
Has anyone gone within the last few years? If so, what was your experience?
Chuck

Hi Chuck, I will post this question on Facebook CSID page as a lot of diet restrictions are the same and I think several have been recently.
How are you guys doing these days, hope all is good. Exciting news about the trip.
Charlie

Hi Chuck. Great to hear from you. It's been several years since we've been to Disney so I'm not any more help than you already know. I just wanted to say that when we were there, they were just as helpful to us as it sounds they were to you. It's a great place to take these kids!

Hi Chuck, this info came from someone on the CSID website, obviously we have slightly different restrictions but alot of limits in sugars etc: 1 Hey Charlie. Yes I did. We ate dinner at three times at a sit down place with reservations Beast Castle, Germany in Epcot & The Crystal Palace. What you do is contact Disney and their special food dietary department. You find the link on their webpage. You email them there and tell them when your reservations are and the confirmation numbers. They then tell the chefs at those places you are coming and when you arrive at each place the hostess will go get the chef when you are seated. The head chef comes out and either walks you the buffet (i.e. a place like Germany and Crystal Palace) or the menu...telling you which menu items are ok for your child and then if there is nothing they will make it off menu whatever you need. They were AWESOME. The other places where you just walk up and eat you have to just ask when you get there...we like the French bakery at Epcot and the Fish & Chips in London was excellent! Brynne also did great on the chicken nuggets at all the other walk up places...I"m not sure if they have fructose in them but they had very low sucrose so she was fine. They were really great every where we went but it is for sure worth your time for the reserved meals to get that set up ahead of time, plus they were so great to her at those places and gave her special tours and made her feel extra special!!! GOOD LUCK and have fun...it's for sure the most magical place on earth!
