I think my response today explains why I posted the section on beer.
Fred please remove it if you feel it contravenes any of the rules of the forum. :}
I make absolutely no apologies for the original post..
OK so the initial post could have been worded better but the attacks I received were way over the top.
A message asking me to amend the posting would have worked far better than full frontal attacks.
The attacks were really about a perceived double standards in me recommending Dextrose in something.. I have stated previously and more than once that the ONLY safe use for Glucose and Dextrose is in brewing. This was before I studied brewing more closely so now I do not recommend using sucrose or Glucose in Brewing for an HFI person.
May I also point out its someones continual posting that smarties are safe for HFI people that directly led to us nearly losing a young boy recently. I do not think that any post I have ever made is as dangerous as that.
Shortly before he was nearly killed by a different version of smarties, the lads mother had messaged me asking why his liver was still showing signs of stress.. I replied (correctly) that he was still getting too much Fructose in his diet, she did not tell me he was eating Smarties. He was apparently eating so many of them the Fructose contamination of the smarties was damaging his liver. I have explained before why small amounts of Fructose in glucose will not cause a reaction. Someone here is still recommending smarties are HFI safe!
When I joined this forum peanut butter was frequently recommended for HFI children even though it contains about 8% sugar! We have come so very far forward and the advise on the site is now far far more HFI safe. Arguments are what has made this site safer! Sorry but thats a fact.
I do not have Double standards and you will find the Top Medical profession in the UK are singing from the same hymn sheet as I am over sugar in foods, if a few verses behind me.
Dextrose may contain some Fructose but the brewing process will reduce this tiny amount to levels that should not effect an HFI. As stated elsewhere I will test the brew when its finished and work out the Fructose load and publish it there (assuming the post still exists).
And No I do not see that feeding dextrose or other sweet flavoured foods to HFI children is in anyway ever a sensible idea.
They are only children for a few years they are adults for far longer.
As a good Parent there are many things we have to stop our children doing that they may see siblings doing or local children, adults or people on the TV and internet stc etc doing, its part of being a parent to steer our children away as much as possible from activities that may or are actually harmful to them..
There is plenty of medical evidence now that eating sugar is harmful to everyone not only HFI children, so I see no reason to change my opinion or stance on the subject. I am simply ahead of the curve on this subject.
However I would like to tone down my position, but I keep getting attacked all the time by people who have no idea what they are talking about, well one person mostly, and has done NO research into the subject. If I'm wrong then I correct my postings and apologize.. however just attacking me because I do not happen to produce findings from my research that agrees with someones wholly unfounded,(choose your own word) opinion is what is causing most of the problems here.
Sorry to have caused you grief again Fred
On the question of legal and safety If Chuck is getting worried about being sued as a result of postings on this site then I am more than willing to take on the risk myself. far better that than for the world to lose this valuable resource, If JD had died it wouldn't be me who was worried about being sued or Chuck..
Just a question Fred would not this been done better as messages to the 3 of us as you suggest
