Nicoleh, you commented in another post about a possible third type of fructose reaction - an "allergic type" of reaction, ie an immune response, as opposed to FM or HFI. Any chance you (or anyone else) could expand on that at all? I've often thought that my 2 girls seemed to have more of an "allergy" to fructose rather than anything else. Mainly because they both get a rash on their face within half an hour of eating fructose and because they both have other atopic issues.
I've started this in a new thread as it's a seperate issue to the original post.
Thanks

Kate, They think meg gets a mild allergic reaction to some type of sugars within half an hour of having it she gets headache earache may flood urine, feels sick and gets sores above her upper lip. We now give her piriton and it settles it quicker whereas it used to go on for days.

Antihistamine, or a brand of. But the sugar free one isn't hfi safe so we have to use one prescribed called chlorphenamine malleate.
Actually Kate I should have added she gets hay fever type reaction as she had one this morning and had an overload of sugar yesterday. We thought it was just hay fever last year but I am not so sure as she doesn't get it necessarily when there is a high pollen count unless it is very specific pollens.
Anyone reading this thread thinking of trying antihistamines do check with your doctor first please. I took meg with three reactions for them to see before that was what they decided.

We've tried piriton with both girls and they both react to it. I didn't realise you could get one on prescription. I think I'll try and get it as we need to give Piriton to Emma on occasion as she has immediate allergic responses to dairy to the extent that we've ended up in A&E.

The one prescribed has a trade name TEUN on the bottle that we get. It does have maltitol in it but it is the lowest sugar we could track after lots of extensive searching by the doctor and myself. Unfortunately all the pills arent' allowed till they are twelve plus. We have to carry it everywhere too for wasp allergy.
