Hi,
I am a big 'wine connaisseur', but after having given up everything, I am starting to wonder if it may be contributing to my problem. I definitely have issues with sweet to medium dry white. But what about dry whites and some reds?
Does anyone have some 'serious' experience here? :P
Thanks!

I can not tolerate any more than a sip of wine. I tolerate a dry white better than any red. I flush + get sweaty shortly after swallowing it; frequently followed by headache and nausea if drink as much as 1/4 cup. So, I do not drink any alcoholic drinks at all.

Once I year I visit a winery. At the winery I visit the sample bar and ask for a sample of their driest white wine. That is the only time I drink wine and their samples are only a few ounces. That's the most I can handle.
I prefer Guinness if I need to cook or drink an alcohol. There is absolutely nothing sweet-tasting in Guinness.
I know Nicole is a bit more frequent with wine. If she swings by, she might be able to help.

If I have more than about 2 teaspoonful of the driest wine I get an instant hangover.. throbbing head, blurred vision the whole works. Which is a great piy because I love all the flavours in a good red wine. I can test a few so long as I spit. But that seems to such a waste .

Hey Bill - have you ever tried preservative free wine? your symptoms sound like sulphite sensitivity. my father is the same and he's fine with the pure wine drops you get over here to remove the sulphites from the wine, or with preservative free. then he can drink a normal amount without symptoms.

I drink quite a bit of wine. I do not like the taste of white wines, so I do not drink any. I have no problem drinking a bottle of a good red wine in one sitting.

I used to drink wine on occasion but my mast cells no longer like the copper. Miss it.

Depends on the wine. Some wines ferment the sugar content to zero, such as E. Guigal (French Bordeaux) or Folonari Valpolicello (Italian red). They are lovely. I have no reaction after more than half a bottle in an evening and I am very sensitive to the amount of fructose I can have. The only readily available white wine I've discovered is Dom Perignon!

I drink one glass of red wine on occasion without any problem. When I was younger I could drink two or even three glasses, but now two glasses tend to give me terrible hangovers the next day. It is probaly a mix of hangover and too much suger, so I rarely overindulge any more. I don't know how much suger is in them, but I prefer Bourgogne Rouge or Beaujoulais Royal.

Like lynngf said, depends on the wine. If it's the right wine for me, that is, without much sugar, hen I can drink several sips without problem, maybe even half of glass, but not more then that.
