After my bad experience with fructose reaction to antibiotics this winter, I have been starting on the journey with compounding medications. My doctor has prescribed me a medication that is available as a generic, but alas, one of the inactive ingredients is sucrose. I have found a compounding pharmacy locally, which will be able to make it sugar free for me, which is great. My question is, if anyone has had any luck with being able to get any reimbursement from insurance for the medications. I don't have the HFI diagnosis yet, only FM and am worried that Caremark is not going to want to pay for it. The compounding medication is very expensive, over $100 and the generic would only be $15 I believe. This is an expensive disorder, but the cost of being sick everyday is one I care to do without!

We also have Caremark but our local pharmacist is great at working with me to double check all Regina's meds. The best thing to do is get a PDR. (Physicians desk reference) I look everything up in that myself, even after I'm told something is ok. There are safe generic antibiotics but they are not common.
