My coworker always insists I need to blow money on food. "Who cares what the price is? Laura, you can't eat ANYTHING, you need to indulge."
So, after eating another bowl of white rice for lunch and feeling queasy after eating a breakfast burrito from McD's, I went grocery shopping. Of course, I was tired of eating plain pasta and plain rice, but groceries are EXPENSIVE. I usually only buy really cheap & boring food.
But I caved. I bought walnuts, sunflower seeds, Lays Sour Cream & Onion potato chips, water crackers, slim jims, olives, crunchy peanut butter, stouffers mac & cheese, sugar-free cool whip, corn nuts, plain yogurt, lima beans, etc.
$50 dollars poorer and two sacks of groceries later, I felt really silly and broke. But at least I have lunch food stuff now. I got really excited when I saw the crunchy sugar-free peanut butter. I think I started bouncing up and down in the aisle.
I don't know if everyone else has the same problems as I do with buying groceries. My local grocery store is really expensive. I hate shopping there, but I don't want to drive a half-hour away to go to Sam's Club or Wally World.
Any ideas on how to save money on groceries? Is it just me, or are HFI foods really expensive? I love hot dogs, but the HFI ones are $5 for a pack of 4. The crunchy peanut butter was $5. The walnuts were $5. The slim jims were $5. I almost didn't buy the lima beans because they were $3, but they were just about the only healthy thing in my basket.
