Hi all Does anyone know which glucose drinks are safe for us? I have always been able to drink Lucozade, but avoid the cans as they seem so much sweeter than the bottles. I recently think I went a bit hypo at work, and quickly felt much better after my manager (a nurse) gave me some Lucozade. Of course, I hadn't got blood sugar test kit with me. I still felt sick all the way home though.
I was once very ill after drinking some Morrisons own brand glucose drink. Never again!
What can others tolerate?
Thanks, Carol

Glucose has a mimimum of 4% sugar as a result of the manifacturing process, at best, it can have very much more.
One Manifacturing process results in a glucose that can have upto 40% "other sugars" in it and still be called 100% pure Glucose!
Although this version of Glucose because it solidifys without further processing is called "confectionary grade" so in short solid Glucose has to be assumed to be very dangerous (because of its ability to mask the Fructose load) and unsafe for an HFI.
We do not react to the Fructose in the Glucose because the Glucose supports the blood sugar level so we do not get Hypo unless the contamination is really bad!
However the Frucotse is still there and will exagerate the crash that happens when the Glucose is burnt off.
Also the residual posions from the Fructose we have taken in (hidden) are still there and will knock us back for several days following.
The usual thing to do is of course to take somthing that makes us feel instantly well again.. ie another glucose drink or something containing Glucose.
Errr WRONG!
I have yet to find time to look at the manifacturing process of Dextrose to see if that is safer than Glucose for an HFI.
I have not yet heard of anyone having side effects from Dextrose other than the ususal crashes when its burnt off of course.
So as I currently understand it Dextrose is far safer than Glucose.
I reitterate that GLUCOSE IS NOT HFI SAFE!
Please if someone can prove it is let me know..
