Hello, myself and my daughter have FM and my 9 month-old son hasn't been tested yet. He gets a horrible diaper rash (more like an acid burn right after pooping rash) every time I give him veg or fruit. He eats only meats and breastmilk at the moment. Couple of weeks ago he came down with a fever and was given several doses of acetomenophen syrup with HFCS and sucrose in it. He did NOT get a rash or any distressing symptoms at all after each dose. Does this mean he is not FM or HFI? Can small doses of HFCS be tolerated by HFI and FM individuals? Also, does having acidy poop from veggies indicate FM or could it be something else? Thanks a million for your input!!

Meg used to get that burning rash every time she went, I had to change her nappies very quickly. It seems to be a common symptom of sugar intolerances but deciding which one is what is hard. It is on the CSID list of symptoms as well.
With FM you may find he can tolerate the sucrose as the glucose element helps transport the fructose through the bowel. Some also seem to be able to tolerate HFCS too if there is enough glucose to help.
So thank your lucky stars you have found a medicine he can tolerate as that is one of the biggest hurdles, just make sure they haven't changed the ingredients whenever you get a new bottle.
