Hello, does anyone here get fat malabsorption as a symptom of HFI or FM? I'm talking about oily looking stools in babies/children/adults.. Also, do you notice that a thirst is another symptom after fructose ingestion? Thanks very much!

Thirst - when Meg reacts she drinks alot of milk, I assume it soothes her irritated system and boosts her blood sugar.
As for stools - hers are always pale when she is on fructose free diet bit like the colour they show with fat malabsorption but whether it is???

Graham cannot handle large amounts of fat either. We are going to the GI doc again on Tuesday to get some more genetic testing done to see if there is a specific mutation (fructose 1,6 biphosphatase) that is an issue as his aldolase B test was negative.

When my daughter was one, she would often get oily stools but it gradually went away. She is two and a half now and she drinks a lot of milk. She is anemic because she drinks so much milk. Now that I read your post charlie, I am worried that she is always taking in fructose

The chances are there is alot slipping through you don't know about, it takes a long time to spot some of it. post or email me her diet over a few days and then I'll have a look at it, you need to write down absolutely everything that goes into her mouth....... Send me your email address and I'll send you the list of ok foods that I have, its a bit more extensive than the Boston list.
