Kerryn & I have been trading e-mails as she's been having some technical problems getting onto the site and posting. Zanoah has had a bit of a bumpy time lately with some sicknesses. She's been to the ER 4x, and they've been dealing with some pretty extreme BS swings.
Her question is about these swings:
I have responded to her with our experience and the fact that Coley's swings are what has pushed the Drs to lean more toward FDPase for Coley.
I know some of you adults have also dealt with this personally and have been diagnosed HFI and some diagnosed DFI, would you mind taking a minute to talk about this for Kerryn.
I'll post a bit of our experience in response as well.
Thanks, KJ

Kerryn, You've probably seen these but I'll post them here just in case: HFI: www.emedicine.com/ped/topic988.htmTechnically BS swings occur with exposure to fructose. We did see a lot of swinging with Coley as he 'detoxed' and then we see him swing a bit when we expose him, for some time after - like his body needs to adjust or something. That's why I suggested going back & double checking everything she's eating. If you've done that and found nothing, then my only other suggestion is to make sure that you do not offer sugar alone (any sugar) amke sure that it is always coupled with protien & or fat. That helped us a lot. But by far the thing that halps get us back to 'normal' when he starts swinging (for whatever reason) is carbs or crackers - it's almost instantaneous! FDPase: www.emedicine.com/ped/topic806.htmTechnically BS swings with exposure to fructose, glycerol and fasting (which turns out to be exposure to glycerol as the body attempts to convert it's own stores of it to glucose). When you get a chance - read my note to Tammy under the sugar list post, as I have seen some interesting progress recently with Coley on this. It's long, so I don't want to retype the whole thing. Ok, so that's what I know about 'data' to prove LBS, and what we've experiened. Hope it helps! And I hope others have lot's to offer as well. Please keep us posted, I hope she's getting back to herself now! And just a reminder to everyone: Kerryn is due 9/11 - Hope you are feeling well too! KJ
