Hemochromatosis/Iron Overload Anyone?

Does anyone with HFI have hemochromatosis/iron overload hereditary or not? Very interested because I am retaining iron and will be doing some more genetic testing.

Wow..that is interesting. I have always battled the opposite.
SOOOOOO ANEMIC....a doctor once called me "walking dead". I have to take a special iron supplement which is combined with other vitamins, which help ensure its absorption and utilization in my body.

My "safe" diet is so low in iron, vitamin C, and B12...it is virtually non existent.

When I first read your note, I thought you were male. Men deal with this more often.

err have i missed something

Susan just eat a cow or two and your iron will be fine or at least have liver once a week and kiss goodbye to the vitamin supplements.. (except vitamin C )

OK I admit I'm a carnivore if it moves, clucks, oinks, moos, cheeps or grunts I will eat it.. if I can catch it that is.. (lucky for me the butcher dose all the hard work,,) I am not French however so there are parts of an animal even I will not eat (unless in a sausage so I cannot see them)

Don't mean to offend you. I was taught that menstruation lowers the likelihood of iron build up.
