My daughters doctors are insisting that we try to reintroduce foods with fructose to see how she does rather then do any further testing as we have been asking for. We know she is super sensitive. We would love any ideas of the safest foods to start with so if she has a reaction it will hopefully be mild. At this point the only spices we use are salt and pepper. I was thinking a good place to start might be to add vanilla extract to something baked with dextrose or maybe try some spices garlic powder etc. I really don't understand the logic of trying this but it seems the docs need more convincing and this may be our only way to do it.

The best plan then is to use something like Nutrition data: nutritiondata.self.com/you can then print lists of foods to sort their order out. On the home page toolbar you will see Tools, click on that and 3rd down Nutrient Search Tool. This brings up a search page, press on foods highest in (for some reason it doesn't differentiate sugars if you use lowest in!?) and click on fructose and maybe sucrose too but definately fructose. then last box down - Within - click on that and that brings up food groups, I would start with a veg as problably lower levels in them, from a quick look, potatoes, spinach, celery or brocolli look hopeful. If you are retesting remember it can take several days for a reaction to start so don't try more than one thing every few days. It is a cheap test for them, called a rechallenge but will only give clear answers if you don't try too much at a time and keep a diary. Stick to one plain simple thing, as vanilla extract may have other stuff, also spices may have other things contaminating it. so personally I would add a veg to a "safe" meal and see what happens.
