Hallo at all, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm from Germany, so sorry for my bad English. I'm 26 years old and have fructose malabsorption. But I also cannot eat any fructose. I have a description in english about the difference: "What is the difference between fructose intolerance and fructose malabsorption? Hereditary Fructose intolerance is a quite rare genetic condition where the enzyme for breaking down Fructose is not produced. Fructose malabsorption is much more common and affects about 30% of people. Certain special cells (epithelial cells) on the surface of the intestine are not available to assist the digestive process. Symptoms of these two conditions are similar: Gastro-intestinal symptoms, especially Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Treatment of Fructose Intolerance and Fructose Malabsorption is the same: a Fructose-free diet." So I hope I can help with my experiences and some recipes. Best Wishes Cati

Hello Cati!
Thanks for posting your message.
I have some basic recipes that I cook for our 14-month old twins that I would love to share with you, and I would like to see your recipes as well.
When our babies turned 1-year, I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. They were delicious and I found all the products I needed online, so they will be accessible to you as well.
We visited my husband's family in California, and my sister-in-law brought to my attention that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese does not contain sugar, fructose, sucrose or sorbitol. These ingredients are on our list of foods to avoid.
I expect to add our own personal recipes to the recipe section on this discussion board soon. Please feel free to add whatever you have.
Warm regards,
Kelly Grace

Hello Cati I am a dietician with a special interest in allergies and intolerances. I am always interested in learning about how people deal with their problems. A client of mine was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome but I think she suffers from fructose intolerance. Could you please share how you have dealt with your intolerance: what foods you are eating, what you have cut out etc. Many thanks and best wishes Debbie

Hallo Debbie,
excuse that, so long, I haven't reported. Unfortunately, I have much to do, because I write my examination soon.
We have set up a database of recipes, purchase tips and hydrates de carbone to be avoided on a German Internet page. Everything happened this in the experiment on ourselves since no dietician and no doctor could help us correctly.
Has passed a year now since the diagnosis and I can manage very well if I eat so little fructose like people with HFI. I eat mainly meat and sausages and few hydrates de carbone.
Unfortunately, I had problems more than ten years and received my diagnosis only a year ago, I have also many incompatibilities of food in addition. I also must avoid yeast and milk now. But now I am well.
I also have an intestines rehabilitation behind myself with good intestines bacteria. This has helped me very much since my intestines flora was from the balance. However, I came onto this idea only with the help of the German Internet forum.
Excuse that my English is so bad. Because of this I also seldom answer. It is a great effort for me to write in English.
I hope I could help you a bit.
Cati

I just saw a link to this forum from the MSN Fructose Intolerance Forum. I was diagnosed as being "fructose/sucrose intolerant" about 7 months ago. I have been sick for about 22 years. My first abdominal episode was at the age of about 10. So many times the doctors thought my pain was my apendix, but as I got older they suggested IBS. The only differance is the vomiting, IBS sufferers do not vomit so I started to learn as much as I could about IBS. About 6 years ago a doctor told me it was just stress and I should avoid it as much as possible. LOL RIGHT!!!!! After being put on the strick diet I started loosing weight very quickly. 47 pounds in the first month, I am now down 93 pounds and am feeling great. My doctor told me that the reason I could not loose weight before this was because the sugar that was poisioning my body. My only real question right now is how do the doctors determine if you have HFI or DFI?? My doctor says DFI, but I think maybe it is HFI... how do I find out??
I have had the hydrogen breath test done and it was positive for intolerance, so is there any other tests that should be done to get complete answers???
I am glad to be part of this forum and the other HFI/DFI forums.
