I was just at a health food store asking for glucose or dextrose for cooking purposes. I was given Stevia literature instead.
What is it? What are it's components? What does it break down to? What does it mean for a HFI'er?
It sounds sickening sweet. It sounds repulsive to me. 15 times sweeter tasting than table sugar? Stevia leaf extract is 300 times sweeter than table sugar! YUCK !

It is a leaf from Paraguay. I can't find out what it breaks down into. It is not listed in the German database (or any other one I can find). On the Boston University HFI sugars table they list it as "Not tolerated" for HFI-ers. It IS sickeningly sweet. I have tried it. I had reactions to it.
I agree with UKBill, that it's probably best to just avoid EVERYTHING sweet as a defense mechanism.
