Hi everyone,
I would like to say hi and introduce myself to the group. My name is Bob, I am 44 years old and live in Tampa, Fl. I have been watching and reading all the posts on here for the last 2 months. I stumbled across the site while researching what could be wrong with me. I have been sick for the last year and a half. My GI had tried everything he could to figure out what was wrong. It always came down to IBS. Thanks to this web site I was actually able to diagnose myself and after a couple of home experiments asked to be tested for DFI, the tests came back positive. I have also been diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). I am curious if any of the others with DFI have been diagnosed with the same. My Dr. feels the SIBO may be what is causing the DFI. I start a 2 month antibiotic run tomorrow. I hope he is right. I have many more things I would like to post about but have plenty of time for that. Tonight I just wanted to say hello and thanks to all the people who have posted on here, its been a world of help and has made my life manageable again. Thanks, Bob

Welcome, Bob! I hope the antibiotics work for you. I know I was disappointed that I did not have a bacterial condition - I was hoping for a prescription that could just fix it all.
If the SIBO isn't the culprit of the DFI, please take heart. As you know from your reading, there are plenty of great suggestions here and a ton of support. "Patience" is a common denominator among us, no matter where we are on this road. (Of course, the people like you that end up here have demonstrated mounds of patience just waiting for a diagnosis.)
I'm assuming that for your own comfort, you are also following a restricted fructose diet as you start you medication... best regards, mary in az

Hi Bob. My daughter has HFI so I am more familiar with that. But if I can help with any general questions, I will be more than happy to. Tammy
