I was wondering if anyone else gets headaches when having a reaction to something. It seems during a stomach reactions my daughter is also complaining of headaches. We seemed to finally have her diet under control and tonight she had a reaction I think to a baked potato(regular white potato with skin taken off).

Yes, Meg gets lots of headaches and quite often earache as well. I guess it is a reaction of the body to toxins.

My dietician said that headaches are a normal phenomenon when you start our diet, because all sorts of toxins are released. She said that with me, my metabolism was confined so long, that when it started working again, some organs got busy too again and had to clean out all sorts of stuff that was stored. Some sort of delayed clean up I guess. It is true for me that now being on a low fructose diet for eight to nine months, most of the headaches are gone, and just appear - like you write - when I have a reaction to something, or when I have been eating too many carbohydrates compared to proteins. So you could try to give you daughter some high protein food when she want to eat again, maybe that will help. Maybe she likes chicken? That is usually not too heavy on the stomach when not feeling well.
When I was going through the detox period, my dietician recommened dandelion capsules, because I couldn't really take much paracetamol (which is the normal painkiller in the Netherlands). It really helped and I was able to stop taking them about two months ago. Now the headaches are only accidental.
But I guess the dandelion capsules are pretty alternative medicine. Do not take my advice like it was a doctors advice please, because it certainly wasn't!

Thanks! I will try the protein, she seems better this morning so we will feed her carefully for a few days until her stomach calms down.

I have a long history of migraines which were caused by fructose ingestion leading to hypoglycemia then to migraine. No more fructose = no more migraines.
buddhasbelly makes a good point though that headaches can result from old toxins being cleaned out of liver and released back into the bloodstream on their way to being eliminated fromt he body.

I very rarely get headaches or migraines.. may be one or two a year.. migraines mush less frequently.. but always associated to an upset gut of some sort. Either food poisoning.. from eating something that should have been thrown away or from one of the various "bugs" that go around at certain times of year.

It seems like as long as we are offf of fructose my daughter does not complain of a headache. When she is having a reaction she complains of headache, stomach pain, and dizziness. The fructose must have been the culprit for her.
