Hi,
I am new too. I am similar to April in that I am DFI and have been told I am gluten intolerant. I have tried adding in some fructose since my DX in June but I just don't tolerate it. I have been told else where that some with DFI have to eat like HFI. Right now this seems to be me. I also have microscopic colitis. So eating FF doesn't make the D go away, just the gas, gurgling, bloating, and some muscle aches. I am thankful for those going away, but I would just like for the D to go away also. I have done every medical test for the MC including capsule endoscopy and will see the Dr. later in Jan. for followup. It will probably be Prednisone that he will prescribe. I dread that, but if that is what it takes I will do it.
My question for you all is that in all the info I have read about DFI there are a lot of discrepancies. Some sites say wheat is ok, others not. Some say asparagus is ok some not. Some mention to stay away from fructans which apparently is in asparagus. You all do not seem to have a problem with wheat. I would think HFI would be worse than DFI in what one could tolerate. Are all different? I guess I finally got to the question. Sorry for rambling so.
There are some wonderful recipes on this site. BTW I am also casein and soy intolerant.
Thanks, Pat

Hi Pat, and welcome!
Ditto everything Fred said.
You asked specifically about asparagus and wheat. I, personally, do fine with normal serving sizes of asparagus. I know there are a few who cannot tolerate it. It may have to be a trial and error test with you.
As for wheat, I've heard it's the wheat germ that we are not supposed to have. I eat shredded wheat just fine, but again, I think it's because the germ is removed.
Sorry I can't give you more solid answers! There just isn't a lot of information out there, and quite frankly even the nutritionists seem perplexed at this level of detail in the diet.
I hope you can find some answers here.
