Ah, that's what I was wondering. It is encouraging that you haven't had such a severe LBS episode since then, and that you think it was from eating something you shouldn't have. I was worried that maybe the episodes would keep happening even with eating very low in fructose, but this bodes well if I can figure out how to eat and stay motivated to do so.
I've started keeping smarties in my backpack too, for when I walk home from school at the end of the day. That's the most common time for the LBS crises to hit, and I'm very vulnerable too since I'm outside, away from home, no bathroom or fuel. I feel so much safer with them in my pack. I had some the other day when I think I was still getting over my last sweet potato exposure, right before the walk, and they worked like a charm. Thanks so much for the idea!
And yes, I'm feeling really good about the psyllium so far. It does seem to be helping slow down the absorption of the white rice that I am relying on these days, and I like the "keeping regular" effect too.

What a horrible time, so sorry Colormist! I too had horrific menstrual cramps leaving me in the fetal position on the bathroom floor. I got them all through middle school and high school and onward until I finally started taking oral contraceptives. That made things a lot less painful.
For the last three years or so I have been taking continuous pills, no "period" weeks at all, and I am SOOOOO happy!! It is AWESOME to never have periods anymore! Woo hoo! Like you, Colormist, I had to take bucketloads of painkillers and still wasn't very functional or nice to be around. Recently I asked my husband if I should get off the oral contraceptives and he said "NO!!!!!!! Don't do it!!!" Haha, so it's not just me who is very happy about the pills!
One thing that has helped me too, speaking about estrogen dominance, is to avoid estrogenic foods. Most estrogenic foods are high in fructose so I'd avoid them anyway, but it helped to know! And yes, keeping fats to a moderate amount makes a difference too.
