Thanks All, we really enjoyed the cake at the Princess Party. All the girls came dressed as princesses. It was held at a local hair salon so all the girls got their hair done, and fingernails painted. They really enjoyed it. Yes, I did make the cake. I found a Wilton kit with plastic towers. We just painted them instead of using icing. Wasn't much to it actually. Everything at the party was HFI- safe. All the girls enjoyed being the ones to "adapt" at the party instead of Regina "adapting". They only had water, milk or diet soda to drink. No candy prizes, just little bracelets, etc. They thought it was cool to see how she ate, too. We took lots of pics. You can see the princesses, If you'd like, here: www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?token=900924600408%3A488229164&sourceId=533754321803&cm_mmc=eMail-_-Share-_-Photos-_-Sharee Even my brother came as a "princess". It was a very nice party for her.

This is awesome, Tammy! I never even thought of having a party at a hair salon--which is a superb idea, btw.
That cake looks freaking amazing.

Tammy,
That cake and party look amazing!!!! Lily would love a cake like that!
Where did you find the castle? Please forward how you made the cake. I've been having a hard time with cakes for Lily. They turn out rather disappointing. I am going to try your red velvet cake for Chuck's upcoming birthday party.
I appreciate your help!

Kelly, I find the red velvet recipe a little dry for my taste, but the best one for decorating. Everyone else didn't mind it being a little dry. Especially since it was drenched in sugar free cool whip. That made it much better. lol. It's a nice cake that "Everyone" can have. I used 3 "mixes" for this cake. One mix each for the 2 - 9" round bottom layers. One mix for the 2 - 6" top layers with enough left over for some cupcakes which ended up being put in the corners of the stand, just because I had them. They ended up working well to put the candles on. I found my tower kit at Wal-mart. That is where I got the idea from. They also have them online: www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=2AAE04F0-423B-522D-FD9974A4926ACCA3&killnav=1They come in plain white plastic so you can make them any color you want. I used dark purple paint first, then a couple of layers of dark purple glitter glue. That is what made them sparkly. I also painted all the windows and door. I would suggest doing this early enough to let the paint/glue dry and become odor-free before putting them on the cake. Also, if you note, very little of the painted surfaces actually touched the cake. I used 4 cartons of sugar free Cool-Whip. I put the bottom 2 layers together just like any cake with cool whip as the icing. Then I put the 6" ones on top. Just make sure you place them toward the back so that there is room for the "roof" above the door. I mention this because I centered mine and then had to move them. lol. I used regular silk flowers with little "blossoms". I just pulled the little parts off the stems and lined them around the edges. I also glued some on the windows. I made the cake 2 nights before so it had a night to be completely cool, knowing cool-whip will melt very fast. Then the night before I put it all together and stuck it in the refrigerator without covering it so the cool whip set up a little to make it easier to transport. If I didn't have to move it, I would have just made it that morning and let it stay "soft". I put little piles of cool whip beside the cake to make a "base" of sorts for the towers on the bottom. It helped to hold them in place. I also glued the tops on the towers, as they act too much like dominoes. lol. I think If I make it again, the only thing I would do a little differently is use 10" instead of 9" pans for the bottom to give me a little more room for the top. I used the 9" only because that is what I already had. If I left anything out, or I didn't explain something enough, just ask and I'll try to help. It was a little time consuming, but actually not hard at all. Good luck and I hope it's as big a hit for Lily as it was at Regina's party.

Laura, The party at the salon worked out great. No mess to clean up!!!! ;D
They also hold a lot of bridal/bachelorette parties there. They try different hair styles to see what they want for the wedding.
I think our next one will be "Hanna Montana". Then we'll just have pizza delivered and all the girls will get funky hair.
This was the first time we tried a party this way and it was a big hit with all the girls, little and big.

Dear Tammy,
Thanks so much for the information. You should get into the cake decorating business!!!!
The pictures you posted were adorable. Looks like everyone had a wonderful time.
Can not thank you again for your help. Cakes have been a thorn in my side!!
My sister's friend suggested I add an extra egg to all cake recipes and cut back on the flour to get around the dry taste. I'll try to experiment with the recipe and post my results.

oh that would be sooooooooo cool. A medieval castle with little plastic dragons being fought off by the little plastic Calvin Knight......
They had a pic on the box with it made up to look like a medieval castle, so it may help with designing it. It looks like they used square pans instead of round ones, but it's basically the same.
I'd love to see a pic if you make it.

Dear Tammy,
Wanted to let you know that I made your red velvet cake. It turned out very moist. I added an extra egg and only used 1 1/2 cups of flour.
Thanks again for all the ideas.

Hi Tammy!
I also baked the cake for 35 minutes, and it was not burnt at all.
I know all ovens vary, but wanted to let you know that as well.
Thanks again Tammy!
