I found a hot cocoa mix at Hannaford yesterday that does not contain splenda/sucralose!!!
The ingredients are: nonfat milk, dairy product solids, cocoa, maltodextrin, salt, tricalcium phosphate, aspartame, carrageenan, dextrin, artificial flavor
I tested it out yesterday and I haven't had any reaction yet. I do usually have some trouble with too much cocoa, but I think the whole packet system helps me control my portion (I usually dump a ton of cocoa into my cup of milk - not so good at the moderation thing!)
I thought of Regina when I found this because I know she likes chocolate and does well with it. If you don't have a Hannaford near you, let me know and I can send some out to people.
It pays to keep checking those labels!!!

Oh, that list makes me nervous, esp artificial flavouring, I make homemade for Megs using Green & Blacks Organic cocoa powder, full fat milk and her glucose powder, just whizz it up and heat. Sorry to sound negative but the longer the added ingredient list the more likely they seem to react.

Charlie,
I know what you mean. I have been trying to stay away from more than a couple of ingredients in a product. I have been making my own hot cocoa as well. I use an unsweetened cocoa powder, dextrose and milk. But, I keep reacting to even one cup. Maybe I am just using way too much cocoa powder.
The boys don't get chocolate at all. Too many VERY bad experiences! And they also don't get aspartame or preservatives. This was just a treat for me ; )

Regina would do well on that. We get the same thing under our local grocery store brand name. Weis Markets. Interesting. It has the same ingredients so I wonder if it's made by the same company? Thanks for the offer of sending it out.
If anyone else wants, it may pay to check out the brand name of other grocery stores, too.

Yes, Nate's OK with our local Safeway brand. I've also found that Farmer's Brothers coffee service brand of cocoa is OK.

I also make a hot chocolate with cocoa powder, polyjoule ( a prescription glucose powder) and rice milk. It is a great hit in our house. She cannot have any other hot chocolate as she reacts badly to all the ones we have tried

The cocoa powder has been a huge hit with Megs although I still proceed with caution. It was her birthday yesterday so I took a deep breath at the weekend and road tested a chocolate cake made with cocoa powder and glucose powder and some melted diabetic chocolate that has maltitol in it. She did start weeing for England and had 2 wee accidents that evening but no apparent tummy pains. So I went ahead and made another for yesterday and an identical sugar version for her friends, it was such a joy to do a supper of sausage and chips and chocolate cake where she had what looked exactly the same. The same thing happened with the weeing but otherwise all seems not too bad. She goes into hospital to see what her blood sugar is up to on the 1st December, they will put a canular in and starve her for 2o hours and take bloods at regular intervals to see what is happening, the best thing is it means I don't have to worry about food in hospital this time!!!
