Just popping in with a little news. Believe it or not, it's not GI related!! Actually we could use some positive vibes. Jarrett is having a Brain MRI and angiogram done tomorrow. With his spina bifida defect he has alot of neck pain, but the neurologist said there was really nothing they could do about it. So seeking another answer I took in to a chiropractor. Well we only went twice because Jarrett cried so hard tha chiropractor kind of asked us to not come back. I really couldn't figure it out and neither could they. This child has had a ton of medical stuff done and rarely cries!! Anyway(there is a point to this story) now he's started having vision changes so I took him to the eye doc. He cleared himeye wise, but suggested we see our pediatrician. We saw him and he suggested we see our neurolgist again. I was shocked because this ped is very conservative. So we see the neurologist(again a very conservative guy) and after a lot of whispering with the "team" the declared that they think he has a brain bleed due to the chiropractor tearing an artery in his neck. I about fell over!!! Now they've made us wait almost a month for this MRI because he has to be under general anesthesia. I told them I wasn't comfortable waiting to which they told me it was ok because if the bleed was large he would have been blind by now!! Nice huh?? Anyway, the day is finally here tomorrow. We're suppose to be leaving Thur am for vacation, but I suppose we'll see what this shows. We're not suppose to go back for results until Aug 22. Again, apparently I'm the only one concerned about this, but I"m going to call them and tell them I want a call Thur. am before we leave. So I figured you guys were good with those positive vibes!! Obviously I don't want him to have a brain bleed, but his vision is getting worse and worse and I just wish there was a quick "fix".

Wow Gretchen. I'm sure they know what they are doing, but it'd definately be a hard time waiting. I've always said the hard part with anything is the waiting and not knowing.
Did you call the chiropractor back? I think I would. If it turns out to be what they say the posibility is......I wouldn't let him off easy. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Let me know how this ends up. Tammy

Oh wow. I second Tammy's recommendation. I'd also call the chiropractor. I really think they need to know what they did. Did they say anything about his vision coming back after the artery is fixed/healed? I'm sure Jarrett will be fine. It sounds like your neurologists have a good handle on things and know what they're doing.

I wouldn't call the chiro--if they did cause an injury as serious as that, don't give them a "heads-up" to start covering their mistakes, wait until the MRI results.

Gretchen, I sent a link to your "charter" address for a chiro board where this sort of thing was recently discussed. A few others may have sent messages as well.
Did everything go well with the MRI and angiogram? Have they said whether they believe he has had a stroke? Can't believe the wait time for the results!
Not sure I would talk to the chiro either at this point since you don't have anything conclusive to discuss. It would likely get too emotional and you're better off just dealing in facts right now to keep a shred of sanity.
Crossing my fingers and saying some prayers for you all. Lisa

Well the MRI was normal. Great news, but doesn't get us any closer to finding out what's going on. Now they're going to repeat another EEG to make sure it's not seizures again. We had a long day. They were running 2 hours behind so he didn't get in until 3pm. Then didn'tget to recovery until 5pm. They wanted to go home so they sent him home puking his guts out!! He's better today and we;re leaving for vacation. Hopefully we can get the EEG for the dame day as the follow up. If this shows nothing then I think they'll sent us to a specialist eye doctor. Of coarse that does nothing for the neck pain. Well I'm going to go try and relax on vacation. Hopefully the town is well supplied in fructose free stuff!!LOL!! Oh, I saw the Ann Landers column in the paper talked about fructose intolerance last night. First time I've ever seen it mentioned.

Well, I'm glad the MRI was normal, but I hope they figure out what's wrong soon. I did some research on the column and found some interesting links. I'm going to post the stuff in the periodicals section.

I'm so glad it came back normal. It's still hard not knowing, but maybe you can relax a little now. We were given a scare with Regina's eyes once. They told me she would be completely blind by the time she was 12. Well, at 25 they are exactly the same as they were when she 8 and I was told this. So they have long ago given that DX up. I am now considering getting her laser surgery since she can't put her own contacts in.
Enjoy your vacation.
