I am having a hard time finding my 19 month old a vitamin supplement. He was taking Poly Vi Sol and it gives him diarrhea. I'm Googling and I was wondering if you knew if the following ingredients would be safe? Orange Oil glycerin Corn Oil Glycerol Xylitol plant cellulose

The vitamin search is hard!
I can say that we stay away from anything with glycerin as it causes problems for us - stomach pain and diarrhea. The glycerin in the Poly-Vi-Sol may be the issue.
We use PediaNutrients by Pure Encapsulations, but they are a very small capsule. Our four year old handles them very well, but we can't seem to get our 22 month old to swallow them instead of chewing them! The capsules do break open if you wanted to put it in some yogurt or SF pudding or something.

He, he, he, join this club too, oh the search for vitamins goes on. Where we are seravit seems the safest, its a powder you dissolve but its not very nice and others have reported the kids just won't take it. I started Megs on it recently having delayed due to glucose queries but decided to go for it, I had read old posts where they said there kids didn't like it but I thought oh I'm sure I can find a way to get megs to have it, Forget it, there is too much powder too citrusy to disgiuse in anything small enough to get down in one. We are now risking Abidec to try but it does have lemon flavour added but doesn't say in what form, she has had it for five days now and so far no worse than normal so fingers crossed. It has omega 3 as well so hoping it will help her brain function a bit more. Apart from that I just try to cook as much fresh and good quality as I can. Lets face it they can't be that much more deficient then than the crap diet most "normal" people seem to follow these days.

I'm concerned that J.J.'s not getting enough nutrients. The only veggies he tolerates, so far, is about a tablespoon of brocolli or cauliflower, and spinach. I don't know what veggie we should try next, I'm kind of scared to try anything else. And, it seems most of the veggies that are orange in color (which usually has vitamin A in it) are not safe.

broccoli & cauliflower are generally no-nos for HFIers. Try green beans instead. I also do okay with lima beans. Spinach is awesome though. One of my favorite leafy greens.

Meg has absolutely no veg, even avocado set her off and that is on the OK list here. I've given up even trying any now. The trouble is we are all told now to be healthy you have to have your five a day and the meal isn't complete without veg involved but for these kids it is just no good at all. Megs yumped on a plate of potato (I think that maybe uses up her fructose tolerant level) and chicken with homemade stock gravy and loved it although it looked very plain. She is the envy of her friends when they come round as she doesn't have to eat veg!!!! About the only plus though!!!! Everyone has a different tolerance level. Do you have a list of OK foods, if you message me your email address I can send you a copy of the British Diet advice.

My daughter cannot have any veges or fruit at all either, even the ones which are suppose to be OK. She won't take seravit either but the doctors think that she will get some deficiencies as she is only eating rice, meat, egg whites adn coon cheese (an australian cheddar). So they have decided for us to try neocate for vitamin and mineral supplement. Has anyone tried this?

My son has tried Neocate and has refused it. I don't blame him because it has the most horrible taste and smell. It tastes like a chemical, not a food. And, it is so so so expensive!

We also make some Kool-Aid using dextrose and put a 1/4 tsp of ascorbic acid powder in it with a dropper full of a magnesium and trace mineral supplement. The ascorbic acid we use is by a company called NOW and the trace minerals/magnesium is called MagActive by Source Naturals. This gets them all of their minerals and their Vitamin C. We call it "Morning Drink."

where do you get Kool-Aid from? I am not sure you can get it over the seas in OZ. I am waiting for a response from them. Thanks for the info. We might try it. She has been really sick and needed antibiotics which she is reacting to but she really needs the antibiotic so we are persisting at themoment. thanks again
