I've got tunnel brain today because I had tea from a bottle the past two days. I was going to let you guys know what brand it was, but it appears that my cleaning lady has decided to throw said bottle away. It wasn't a major brand.
I read the label when I bought it. Nothing scary on it and it said it was unsweetened. Had half the bottle on Tuesday and the other half yesterday. It tasted odd, but nothing that would stop me from drinking it.
About an hour after drinking it, the nausea set in. I haven't had an incident in a few months, so I don't think I'm handling it as well as I used to.
I really wasn't expecting the nausea to carry over to day #3 and the extreme drowsiness/lack of intelligence is causing me to be very slow and incoherent. Might have to go get another cup of coffee to go with my smarties. (HA, smarties are such a relevant name for that candy right now.)
I have no idea what was in the tea, but I'm not very happy about it. The only clue they gave on the ingredients was "natural flavors to preserve" something-or-other. Bleah.

It is the hidden small print that can sometimes trip us up. Took megs to London today to see Hospital specialist, (see details in Megs update in 5 upwards group). Took her to museum after as a treat, due to early hour we had to leave and not wanting to carry stuff around I made the mistake of hoping there would be something in the restaurant she could eat. WRONG. Pizza, pasta dish was dehydrated ready make macaroni cheese with susupicious ready made sauce, pototo wedges fried in tomato, basil and garlic or salad. Other options ready made sandwiches with at least some sort of mayonnaise in each. Oh well, plied her with lots of milk and some crisps, posh handcooked with sea salt and black pepper chips. Can't go far wrong with those I thought. WRONG Few hours later she started to complain of tummy ache, she had only had half the packet. Glanced again at ingredients. Sea salt and black pepper Flavour (maltodextrin, potato starch, sea salt, SUGAR, ground black pepper, flavouring, yeast extract, vegetable powder) WHY? They are supposed to be plain healthy chips. I despair. I despair of myself too, when am I going to learn, just do your own food. Not sure how strict food labelling is in America but it is definately getting stricter over here, in years gone by they wouldn't have been that precise about the add-ons and we would have been none the wiser, god knows how you old diagnoses managed.

I've been burned on those exact same potato chips. They're advertised as sea salt & black pepper, so I thought they'd be fine. I ate a couple, then read the label. So sad when your favorite food makes you so sick.

On a somewhat similar note, is green tea safe? Is that what you were drinking colormist or was it black tea? Matthew seems to do fine on unflavored black tea but anything with 'green' in the name gives me the willies. I've been searching online but to no avail.

It was green tea that I was drinking. I drink pretty much any and all types of tea. I'm a bit more skittish around fruit-based teas, but haven't had any problems with them. Green tea I have no issue with whatsoever (drinking green jasmine right now).
I think others here also drink green tea with no issues. Just be careful of the pre-made bottled types and you might want to stay away from anything with fruit in it. Vanilla tea is awesome, but you might want to try it in increments to make sure it's safe.

I drink a lot of decafinated green tea without a problem. Celestial Seasonings also has a decaf green mint tea that I do fine with. Besides water, green tea is the only other thing I drink.

If you are looking for unsweetened bottled teas try Ito En Teas. They come in wonderful green, white & black tea flavors (all natural) like lemongrass, green golden oolong, Jamine Green. They are sold through Amazon. Maybe you can add xylitol to sweeten your tea yourself?

This is an interesting discussion. I don't normally suggest that children have tea, but my daughter drinks hot/warm, green tea (very weak) with no problems that I can see. However, we still have unknown issues from something. I am still investigating. Hopefully this helps someone get the courage up to have a go. I know that it is hard to keep trying, but to have another drink for those cold nights is really refreshing for some of us.
