How does everyone do on Maize, found new cereal here which are gluten free cornflakes, they have maize and rice malt plus salt. Megs loves them but seems to be having restless nights and more hypos when on them so I guess that is my answer but we are still testing her on glucose so it may be combination effect. Hope not cornflakes as they do give us variety for brekky

Honestly, I've been eating Shredded Wheat (with maybe one variation a month) for about two years now. I can't speak for everyone here, but variety isn't something that we generally need or seek. On the gluten-thing, I heard that certain kinds of oats are okay for those with celiacs. My husband has been trying this with partial success. I'm not sure which oats are okay and which aren't, but if you can find the gluten-friendly types, you might have an alternative there from puffed rice.

I'd have to agree with Laura - I'm not a fan of variety and neither are my kids.
I use corn meal made from degerminated corn in baking, but not very often - I just prefer wheat products. Sawyer likes corn grits and we thought he was fine with them, but now we are not sure. It seems that every time we try something new some other food gets sneaked in somewhere and then we are not sure which food is causing the issue. As of tomorrow we aren't trying anything new for a couple of weeks!
What is the rice malt? Is it made from white rice or brown rice?

These cornflakes are special ones that don't have sugar added but not sure about rice malt, I did email doves farm about them and they sent back that there was no fructose element to the rice malt but not convinced. Megs doesn't mind not doing variety but had got fed up with ready brek(processed porridge flakes) and i was struggling to get her to eat breakfast then she was flaking out mid morning. Think might have to scrap the cornflakes plan though as back to restless nights. Tried shredded wheat she wasn't impressed.

I found them in our local Holland & Barrett Health food shop, some Tesco may stock them in their special range, otherwise here is there website: www.dovesfarm.co.uk I'm not convinced they are safe though as I think both times Megs has had really bad turns she has been on them, but we do have other queries as regards her and blood sugar so not sure. The wheatabix they do look good too but again not convinced. I did email them when I first saw them and they said there was no fructose element to rice and barley malt so unsure. Megs did like both though
