Ah, Katie! I also have a reaction to eggs. I usually can't eat more than two a week. It's okay if they're made into something (like noodles) but straight eggs always leave me feeling a bit off. They so have a small amount of fructose in them. If you eat them regularly and have HFI, then you'll likely have a reaction.

I don't know where you all are getting the idea that eggs have fructose in them? I can not find any nutritional info in any of my dietetic text that states that is so. However, it is a known fact that eggs are one of the highest known foods to cause allergic reactions ingested, plus when used as a medium in drug production, as in flu vaccine. So, I am thinking it is more likely you are experiencing a food allergy or intolerance, than HFI reaction when ingesting eggs. Anyway, it's "food for thought"...not everything is due to HFI. We had a saying in school as I remember it: "a patient can have as many diseases as he/she pleases". In other words, there can be more than one thing going on with a patient at the same time.

Wow! That's unreal Colormist! It is hard to dispute the "whole egg, uncooked"...the others I can imagine milk being added in one way or another. I had no idea there was so much sugar in an egg! Seems crazy! I forgot about nutritiondata.self.com -- should have checked there. I slipped up! I can eat eggs OK. In fact, I usually eat 2 every morning, and have been for years. Breakfast is my one really safe meal because of it. Seems like that much sugar in eggs would be bothering me??? I agree, livestrong.com is always questionable.

I don't notice a reaction from foods that I eat regularly. Big Biscuit Shredded Wheat (being that it's whole wheat) should cause a reaction, but because I eat it almost every day, I don't notice anything. I wonder if you have a similar acclimation to eggs?
I only notice the reaction to eggs because I don't eat them very often (couple times a month, typically). I do okay if I don't have them multiple days in a row. The only noticeable side effect I have is dark urine and some hypoglycemia the next day or two.
