Hey I'm curious, my daughter is only eight but when she's old enough what alcoholic beverages, if any, are ok? I'm sorry if I'm repeating anything I haven't gotten through all of this website yet. Any HFI moms have any pregnancy issues? (baby's nutrtional status?, size, etc.)

I posted a thread about that in the Adult section. There are some german beers, some Holland beers, Sam Adams, and really dry red wines. I'm too chicken to try to red wines right now. So far, nobody's had any pregnancy issues. I also brought up that question a while back as I'm concerned with starting a family.

Like Colormist, I stick mainly to beer. Corona Light is my favorite. ;D
I used to drink red wine on occasion. I still will have a half glass every now and then, but mainly just drink beer.
I have a son who has no problems with sugar. My brother also has two "normal" children. My pregnancy was fine with very little complications. I took a modified test for gestational diabetes since I couldn't bear the thought of drinking their sugar drink (which supposedly was just glucose, but I wasn't diagnosed yet so I didn't really understand). I passed with flying colors.
We've had all kinds of these types of conversations in the past, so reading through old posts should be helpful (and mildly entertaining, I'm sure).
ETA: Where are you located, Jeanee? (if you don't mind sharing). We're planning a small meet-up in the San Francisco area in February. Most of us have never met another HFI'er (other than siblings), so I'm really looking forward to having some of these conversations in person. It may be fun for your daughter, too.

I have never had a problem with Shiraz or Tempranillo if its no more than 2 glasses. I have never liked sweet wine or white wine so thats about as sweet as I would ever try.

I drink red wine sometimes, maybe a glass or two, my nutritionist has checked around and generally (there are of course exceptios) there are less sugar in French red wine than in other European red wine. Dry white wine is ok in small amounts. I like beer, and prefer ale to lager. As for plain alcohol, whisky, vodka, gin, etc are ok as well, we just don't have as many options to make a drink out of it as others.
As for pregnancy, mine was very nice. I had no morning sickness, I ate a ton of meat and only gained 8 kg. No problems at all either with me of my daughter in relation to food. She has not inherited HFI and is happily eating anything you could think of, though I'm naturally constricting the sugar intake somewhat.

I'm skipping around posting everywhere on the site. Apparently mine are peas and Pepsi.
