Hmmmm... I recall a discussion on dye-free artificial vanilla, but I don't recall what the consensus was. You might try doing a search on the forum to see what was said (or just wait around and see if someone recalls).

Thanks- I will search old posts and see what I can find. On another note, we had our appt today with the director of the metabolic diseases clinic for our daughter, and she was refreshingly open-minded and listened intently to our whole long story. Don't know what it will amount to, but we were so relieved not to be brushed off! She also gave us a prescription for medical grade dextrose, which is the only kind we have had any luck with in terms of not having reactions. Because it is USP certified, it has to meet purity standards far exceeding food-grade dextrose. Anyhow, onward we march..!
