I like the visual representation of a punnet square. Below you can see an example of the possible outcomes of two parents who are carriers (one mutation, not two). View the capital "G" as the dominant (normal) and the lowercase "g" as a mutation (HFI). This was the setup for the parents of most of us. 25% chance child will be normal, non-carrier (GG) 50% chance child will be normal, but carry one copy of mutation "Gg" 25% chance child will suffer HFI, two copies of mutation "gg"
