Just returned from a mini-vacation, and saw Esmee's note about testing with Dr. Tolan. I hope to talk my doctor into doing the DNA test when we get back to Texas for a visit - we live in Panama most of the year. Our next visit will be in April, so I will pursue it then. I noticed from the internet that Baylor U Medical Center in Houston does testing too...but it seems like Dr. Tolan at Boston U is the BEST, is that right? Also, that he tests other family members for free if the primary tester is positive for HFI? Of our 4 grown-up "kids", it wouldn't surprise me any if 3 of them showed some sensitivity too.

Yes, Tolan would be my choice. He is half the price of Baylor and will then test all relevent blood relatives for free (which Baylor will not do) if you test positive. He has been receiving funding for his research from NIH for 25 years. He is planning to run his next test at the end of Feb. or beginning of Mar. He only runs it every 2-3 months because he must have 4 samples to do it. You still have an opportunity to get in on the next round if you want to do so.
